The problem
The problem isn’t a lack of data. It’s a lack of centralized product knowledge.
Industrial product information is fragmented across manufacturer websites, thousands of PDFs and catalogs, distributor portals, spreadsheets, technical documentation, classification systems, outdated data, and the tribal knowledge of industry experts.
Every order starts with something you can’t buy — a description, a competitor’s number, a legacy model number. Somebody has to resolve it to an exact manufacturer part number out of a universe of roughly 300 million. That resolution is the distributor’s value, and it lives in the heads of people who are retiring.
Why industrial parts are still so hard to identify
The public internet doesn’t contain the engineering knowledge needed to replace that expert. This is a data problem, not an AI problem: the tools that run distribution have nothing accurate to draw from. Araday is building that data.
